Las Vegas Trip Set For Summer

It looks like I have finally nailed down the details to my upcoming trip to Las Vegas this summer. I hemmed and hawed for quite some time, weighing flight options and hotel deals. I finally decided upon the dates I did so that I could catch femme fatale Very Josie while she was in Las Vegas and also take part in one of the TBC Poker Meets being set up for friends of Tony Bigcharles by one of Tony's friends, Koala. The last I heard, Poker Grump was working on setting up the private tourney for one of the nights that I will be in town.

With this as the lead in ... I plan on arriving on Wednesday, June 20 and returning home on Tuesday, June 26. I have mostly an open agenda so far. I tentatively plan on having dinner on Friday, June 22 at the Rio with two great poker bloggers, cmitch and Shabazz Jenkins. Anyone else wanting to get in on this dinner?

The TBC Poker Meet is tentatively set for the evening of Sunday, June 24. I have invited Josie to be my partner in a tag team poker tournament earlier that day at the Golden Nugget, but have yet to find out if  I am worthy of her aggressive, winning persona.

I do not have many specific agenda items for this trip. I would like to hit the Wicked Spoon buffet once while in town, and maybe even take TBC to Ellis Island for the steak special -- with plenty of dem mashed potatoes, of course! This trip is being made without my frequent Las Vegas companion -- my brother, the King of Komps. We usually try to get to Ellis Island if time permits -- one of our traditions that morphed from our old standby of getting the prime rib special at the San Remo, which is now Hooters. At least one trip to the Hash House A Go Go in the Imperial Palace should also be in order.

As for poker ... I will have to carefully weigh my options. I tend to spend most of my time playing cash games at my Las Vegas poker home, Ballys. Last trip I did have fun playing at Harrahs, Planet Hollywood, and the Golden Nugget. I keep saying that I will return to play a bit at Bellagio, so maybe I really need to do it this trip. The Rio cash games during the WSOP are supposed to be donktastic, so that is also a possibility.

I have tended to forgo tournaments for the cash games, but I plan to force myself to play at least one deep stack tournament while in Las Vegas. There are certainly many from which to choose during the WSOP weeks. How can a poker player not love being in Las Vegas during that time?

I am certainly up for playing some cards with other friends who live in Las Vegas or who will be visiting during that same time. Hit me up if you want to set up anything in advance. Otherwise, I will just let things happen as they may, which is how most of my Las Vegas trips end up anyway.

Let the countdown begin -- 73 days and counting ...

@ Tony -- Man, you are missing the best mashed potatoes in the world at Ellis Island. The first time I went there my brother and I saw the heaping serving of mashed potatoes that came with the steak and were sold on them. They looked and tasted great!

Maybe we can make another late night run to The Burger Joint like we did last visit. The country fried steak there looked pretty dang good!

@ Cranky -- Yeah, I was jealous hearing about the fun you had with Josie and Gary in AC. Josie could use a roomie there -- hint hint!

Nice pic old man! I'd love to play the tourney, but it will mean no blogger tourney when we go deeep and i need more info. Is the guys and dolls tourney structured so i play against all women? I dont like womens tourneys as I lose my edge with my poker uniform. I wonder if we can switch off whenever we'd like or if it's structured.

That being said I think we'd be a formidable team, me with my aggressiveness and you with your roachiness. I'm a maybe.

When does the blogger game start and does it allow for late reg? Worst case we just just watch the blogger tourney after we win and give out back rubs. Yum.

Oh and I have Tonys ellis island meal since he doesn't want it?

You want me to spring for a meal for you when you do not auto-accept my tournament offer? You realize that once the best female players in Vegas hear that I am coming that I will be besieged with offers ... some even having to deal with poker?

im willing to go to ellis island as long as josie is there and i can order country fried steak instead of the NY steak. Im afraid its one of those places that only has NY steak.

Dang I wish I could get out there then Lightning but money is gonna be a bit tight until this house thing settles I fear. I will have to hit Ellis Island sometime myself. Glad to hear you're gonna go to Hash House a Go Go again, that place is terrific. I got to get out to Vegas again soon

Tony -- from the Ellis Island menu:

Chicken Fried Steak -- tender pork cutlet with homemade chicken gravy, mashed potatoes and vegetables

And the blogger tournament Josie is talking about is the tournament Koala is organizing.

Lightning - I don't know how much poker I'm going to be able to play but I do want to meet up with everyone who's in town.

One of the evenings I'd like to meet up for some food and maybe a brew or two (if you don't drink I'll have yours as well - no worries).

I'm really interested in meeting all of the bloggers whom I interact with on a regular basis.

Also, I absolutely love the fact that Tony was turning down a free hot meal because he'd rather eat in his room alone and doesn't like that one particular kind of steak (until Josie's name came into it that it).

I laugh at life some days

Even more shockingly he chooses her over me! Hard to believe since I am a tad cuter than VJ, if I must say so myself ...

2:27 PM
Blogger Josie said...

Tony, don't you believe Lightning. He is NOT cuter than me. Okay the 3 of us, dinner at Ellis Island - Yum. Know what? I've never in my life had chicken fried steak. Is it good?

I prolly do want to play the team tourney with you Light - just let me do a bit of research before I confirm it.

Wait a minute! Chicken fried steak is PORK? Can that be right? I figured for sure it was steak or um, chicken!

Blogger grrouchie said...

Chicken Fried Steak is fricking great.
And I have just volunteered to join you 3 so now it's more awkward and like a double date.
Tony can have the "cuter" one in Lighting and I'll be left with the "lady" in Josie.

also, before too much confusion abounds, I am in fact (100% proven) the other white meat!

Oh wow, this sounds good. You can bet I will try to be in Vegas to meet Lightning & Josie, especially since I know Josie wants me.

I believe that steak special at Ellis Island is ONLY for NY steak, not for country-fried steak or any thing else. But it's not an overly expensive place anyway.

If I'm there I'm inviting myself to the Ellis Island dinner.

And poker. We must all play poker, in addition to the TBC private tournament.

This sounds good, really good.

Oh, and I love this line from Josie: "I dont like womens tourneys as I lose my edge with my poker uniform."

So what, Josie, do you like show up to play poker half naked?

Not that I would object to that, you understand. :)

8:39 PM
Blogger lightning36 said...

She shows cleavage, Rob. Of course, half the guys who regularly play poker tend to have abundant cleavage anyway ...

8:50 PM
Blogger Rob said...

Cleavage, huh? So she's going for the "Jennifer Tilly Effect" huh?

And you know, the abundant cleavage of a guy is quite a bit different than that of a woman. I'm sure you've already figured that out.

So, Mr. Lightning, have you actually already met the legendary Ms. Josie in the flesh? I was surprised that grrouchie had not.

Yes, Rob, I have. And I can truthfully tell you two things: 1) She is more attractive in real life than in her pictures. Don't expect Jennifer Tilly cleavage, though (lol), and she really is ... short. 2) The Josie you read in her blog is pretty much what I found her to be in person -- without the constant flirting and sexual innuendo. She is very intelligent and a lot of fun to be around. She is a genuinely nice person.

Ok, first of all, I never EXPECT Jennifer Tilly cleavage. Jennifer Tilly cleavage is much better when it's not expected.

Besides, if Josie is as short as you say she is, if she had Tilly cleavage she wouldn't be able to stand up.

Nothing you said about Josie suprises me, that's pretty much how I see her.

Blogger Josie said...

Lightning - Actual compliments from YOU? I don't believe it's really you but ty. Hmmm I let up on the flirting? Not at the felt, I'll tell you that!

Rob - about my height and tits - Yes, I'm really that short. No, they are not huge, just awesome. That's all. And all guys get distracted by cleavage, so why not have an advantage?

Grrrrouchie - You picked me over Lightning! You, like Tony, have excellent taste.

Lightning baby - It's going to be a helluva weekend - and when we're done you'll amend your comment to "It WAS constant flirting". Oh and wow, all these comments - see what happens when you give me a link? :)

5:15 PM
Blogger Rob said...

Josie--"Just awesome" huh. Wow. You gotta love a woman who brags about her breasts! Now that's self-confidence.

"All guys get distracted by cleavage"? You mean all guys but me. I personally never notice. :)

Looking forward to looking down your shirt, I mean, meeting you, this summer.

Lightning, I'm looking forward to meeting you, too. Off topic question....the sound effect of the lightning on your blog is really neat, but is there any way to turn it off? I mean aside from just muting the sound entirely on your computer?

I have been told before that it tilts people when they are playing tournaments. Your comment might inspire me to get my son to look at the coding and see if the fireworks can be silenced.

btw -- Now that I have lost some weight Josie has more cleavage than me. But I am still cuter!

8:08 PM
Blogger Rob said...

Not sure what you are referring to that "tilts people when they are playing tournaments"? Josie's cleavage or the lightning sound on your blog?

I'll play Omaha again before I ever conclude that you're cuter than Josie, I can guarantee you that.

Hasn't Josie already promised to motorboat Carmel?

1:20 AM
Blogger Josie said...

No Rob ! Well.....maybe. I promised to give Carmel a hug....but shes tall. I'm too old for her though. Remember the formula?

Carmel! You're going to give these guys a heart attack...and erm, me too. :)

5:20 AM
Blogger Rob said...

Josie, you're too old for Carmel? I didn't realize that forumula holds for girl-on-girl action too! Damn.

But actually, I didn't realize that either you were that old or Carmel was that young.

Lighting, this comment thread is approaching the length of one of TBC's comment threads! Good going.

One never knows where a discussion of steak and mashed potatoes will lead.

Do you think DaBlackPimp and DaWhitePimp might make an appearance here soon? Heck -- maybe we can talk about Tony's new pair of jeans. lol

I just turned 26, is that really young? At what age does one stop being "young"? I know some people older than me that act like their 15. I guess that's something else entirely.

Lightning, you have good hair, BTW.

Blogger lightning36 said...

Hmmm ... trying to lure me into the threesome/foursome/fivesome? Granted, with you and Josie it sounds pretty interesting, but with grrouchie ... nah!

3:14 PM
Blogger Rob said...

Carmel, according to "Josie's formula" the oldest she should be and still be ok for you is 38. I believe she's admitted to being older than than that.

That's assuming the rules are the same for girl/girl as they are for girl/guy.

It's beginning to sound like we're talking full fledged orgy here. I guess I'm too old to do anything but blog about it. Wow, that blog post ought to get me a few pageviews!

And LIGHTNING, I promise to try harder to stop mispelling your screenname. I dunno why I keep leaving out the first "n".

3:18 PM
Blogger lightning36 said...

Rob -- one is never too old to do anything. And ... sorry, but I include you in the same catagory as grrouchie. Perhaps you can be in a separate threesome with Josie and Carmel and I can blog about it. Dang -- that might really get me up into Tony catagory with comments. Add a little mashed potato content and the sky is the limit!

3:35 PM
Blogger Rob said...

Well, based on the formula Josie posted on my blog, she thinks I'm DEFINITELY too old for Carmel, but not too old for her (I know she wants me).

But if I was in a threesome with Josie & Carmel, that would definitely be the death of me. However....the coroner would never be able to get the smile off my face.

And you would surely have one helluva blog post!
